NVIDIA has teamed up with the National Science Foundation to develop open AI models under the OMAI initiative, aiming to bolster America's scientific leadership. The collaboration will leverage NVIDIA's HGX B300 systems, powered by Blackwell Ultra GPUs, to handle large-scale AI workloads.
The project seeks to create a fully open AI ecosystem for scientific discovery while advancing AI research itself. NSF acting director Brian Stone highlighted the strategic importance of these investments for maintaining U.S. dominance in global science.
